September is always a time for fresh starts. Yes, I’ve been out of education for 4 years but it still always feels like a good time of year to refresh and go. And now things have finally kicked off in 2018 for me! I know we’re 9/10 months in but it actually feels like my life is coming together and this year hasn’t been a complete shit show (pun intended). I can’t believe I can finally say it in one of these round up blogs but we moved house. Holy moly! Here’s what happened in September.
Finally moving house!
On 6th September 2018 me and Dan finally finally moved into the new flat. It has been so much fun getting furniture and starting to make it look like our home. We’re a month in and where we’re up to is that the flat is functional. We’ve got everything we need to live – bed to sleep in, desk to work at, kitchen stuff to cook with and chest of drawers for clothes. But now it’s time for all those little bits that you just pick up along the way that aren’t necessary at first. We still need bookshelves. There is a mountain of boxes in the office right now that need emptying.
We’ve got loads of art to hang up but I’m scared to do it until we’ve figured out all the furniture and can plan what is going it which room. So many decisions! Hopefully soon I’ll feel like the flat is finished enough to do a proper flat tour video. I’m not going abroad again this year so I’ll just be in London working on the flat. I love it though, it already feels like home.
Nerded out in Madrid to watch League of Legends
Dan is a big League of Legends fan and his favourite team is Misfits. During our time being together I’ve watched over his shoulder and he’s explained some of the rules to me and I actually quite enjoy watching some games. LoL is a competitive esport (the world championships are happening right now!) and Madrid hosted EULCS Summer Finals. We hadn’t been on holiday all year because of my health and we thought let’s fucking do this. So we went and it was so bizarre and so much fun! Misfits were playing in the 3rd place play off and even though they lost it was still amazing to see them play. The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible – the same as other sports games I’d been to. Also, I cashed in some of my perks of being an influencer and surprised Dan with meeting the team and a behind the scenes tour of the stadium! I’d been to Madrid before and absolutely loved the city so it was great to visit again. Our AirBnB host gave us some incredible food recommendations – everything was so delicious! We literally went to Madrid the day after we moved so it was a bit hectic but it was such a great trip and I imagine we’ll go to more EULCS finals around Europe in the future.
Screening at Buffer Festival in Toronto!
This year marked my 4th Buffer Festival (5 if you count Buffer LA earlier this year). It has to be my favourite YouTube event. It’s a film festival so there are screenings over the weekend and YouTubers premier content at different screenings. This year I premiered a 10 minute preview of my video “Disability, Sex, Relationships & Dating Roundtable” at the Empowerment and Acceptance screening. The full hour of the video is now live on my channel!
One of the reasons I love Buffer Festival so much is because of the community and connections with fellow creators. Everyone at Buffer Festival no matter how big or small their channel is has something to show that weekend. So immediately the hierarchy is gone as we’re all doing exactly the same thing. When you first meet someone you can ask them, “what are you screening?” instead of, “what do you do?” or “how many subscribers do you have?”. It’s not about numbers. It’s about content. And even if you’ve never heard of someone before you may have been to their screening and seen their video so you have something to talk about. There’s no awkward feelings of I don’t know who this person is but should I? It doesn’t matter. And I always seem to meet the most amazing people at Buffer and make new friends.
So yeah it was a very busy month. Hopefully things will calm down now we’re getting into the final stretch of the year (hahahaha who am I kidding?). What did you get up to in September? Do you also see it as a fresh start even if you’re not in education anymore? Comment below x
So happy that you finally got to move into your flat! It sucks that it took so long, but it also seems to be happening at the perfect time for you to truly make it a new home. Can’t wait for the flat tour whenever that comes, and cheers to a lovely October!

In September I found and started my first ever job after university! I’m still kind of freaking out and I feel like I’m not ready, but I’ve worked a week now and I’m starting to feel a little bit more at ease. The people are very nice and my team is still in training, so we’re getting a lot of help which is very comforting 🙂
I don’t play LoL myself but I think it was really cool of you being able to go to EULCS, I didn’t even realise it was a thing before this blog post.
Also, so glad to hear you’ve moved in and things are going smoothly!
